Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life and, therefore, you deserve to have the absolute best. At the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel, this will include the best guidance from your Wedding Specialist, Rachel. She is passionate, creative, patient, and the ultimate problem solver. Her goal is to make sure that your wedding day is exactly as you’ve always pictured it. Rachel will assist you in executing all of the fine details while making sure you feel comfortable and organized throughout your wedding journey. She’s heard it all, and since no question is too big or too small, we’ve decided to flip the script and ask her a few questions about herself!
What is your “dream” wedding menu?
A sweet and crispy mixed salad (with extra cheese!) to start, perfectly cooked surf and turf as my entrée, and carrot cake for dessert plus a coffee station.
What is one thing that most couples forget when planning their wedding?
With so much that goes into planning a wedding, it’s easy to forget the “small stuff”. Don’t forget to order smaller items such as a card box, table number stanchions, and signage!
What is one of your favorite places to show people when looking at The Marlowe?
I love the grand staircase that leads up to the Serrano Ballroom. There is a beautiful compass displayed on the floor for any photos that are taken at a bird’s eye view.
Favorite Hors D’Oeuvre on the menu?
I’m a huge fan of the coconut shrimp!
How do you approach the planning of weddings?
Communication is key. I will always make myself available to talk though questions related to your big day. It’s also extremely important to me that you are taken care of. I prioritize the small touches, such as a plate of hors d’oeuvres for you during cocktail hour or finding a private spot for you to have a moment of alone before the big reception.
What is a touch that you could add to weddings that is not expensive?
There are so many fun and creative ways to create a “guest book” now-a-days. I’ve seen jenga blocks, puzzle pieces, and other creative ideas that won’t add too much of an additional expense on your big day
Must have photo-op around the hotel?
Definitely take some pictures under the beautiful willow trees in the park. It’s also a perfect first look spot! For nighttime photos, a picture in our courtyard under our beautiful lit up 25-foot-tall Celeste sculpture is a MUST.
Advice for couples post big day?
Self. Care. You put a lot of time and work into your big day. Now you deserve to take a day to relax and enjoy married life!
